    Kati-Ani systems are strictly DI. Because the Cation and Anion resins are separate (i.e. not mixed bed resins) you can recharge them. The nice thing about these is that there is no wasted water.

    Yes, and my experience using it- is that its garbage, and works for about 50-75 gallons of water tops before it dies out and starts spewing out disgusting smelly ass water!

    Hence the fact that any water should go through an RO unit before being put through a DI cartridge if there is any type of efficiency to be met!
