I'm trying to decide on which HOB skimmer to upgrade too. I'm currently running a standard Remora with a maxi-jet 1200. It will be going on my 55g reef.

Gathering info from the RC forums and online I have gotten the notion that:

Deltec > Bermuda > Remora Pro

    Some of my concerns are:

    - Will a Mag 5 pump heat up my water?
    - Do the Deltec/Bermuda have similar footprints to the Remora?
    - Do the Deltec/Bermuda have guards against overflow onto the floor?

I'm leaning towards the Bermuda currently as I have found it in my price spot, but answering the above questions will help me make my final decision. I also do like the fact that the Deltec won't have a pump in my DT.

I do love the plug-n-play of the Remora but have heard so many reports about the other two being worlds better & am hoping they're also somewhat maintanence free.

    Thanks for any input!

    Joe

    1) Mag5 won't add much heat to your water
    2) I believe they are similar except for the bermuda and deltec being wider than the remora
    3) The deltec uses a de-gassing plate that is the length of the output, but the Rogue has a de-gassing plate the entire length of the skimmer and does prevent overflowing onto your floor.

Now for my personal opinion, Deltec skimmers are excellent skimmer, but so are the new Reef Octopus hang on skimmers and don't cost as much. Look in to the new Reef Octo skimmers. i don't like remoras. i hope this helped a little.

Helped a lot def, thanks! I will look into the Reef Octopus' also now. I'm basically looking for something that I don't have to "fiddle" with and empty the cup & normal cleaning. The fact that the Rogue's design prevents overflowing is def a good thing.

Thanks again for the input K+
