I have a Deltec De-nitrification filter, which is basically a reactor that is split with a sponge, having airline size tubing feeding and returning water from the tank. I aim to power this from a slow feed T-Piece returning from an external filter. The question I want answered is is it ok to split the media with the sponge, rather than having another reactor filled with a buffering agent? Will the calcium media cancel out the sulphur beads being in the same chamber?
I have taken a picture of the reactor with the media inside. Is this OK?

I'm not overly familiar with sulfur denitrators but what kind of calcium media is that? I don't know but if you're trying to use regular calcium reactor media that will not do much. Calcium reactor media needs a low pH around 6.5-6.8 to dissolve.

I have forgotten the name of it, but it is what the lfs uses to buffer water through after its been through sulphur beads.
