    so starting about two days ago my clam is almost closed and looks like it's retracting in the shell. i another clam in the tank doing fine and all other corals as well?????? is this toxic??

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    If the mantel is completely shrunken down in the shell you can remove the clam.

    The death of the clam may not foul the water, I have had them die within the tank witout an ammonia spike of any significance.

    I would however test all parameters to make sure that was not the problem.
