Can a Tridacna Derasa clam live in a 90 gallon tank with two 260 watt power compacts. 520 total watts on tank. Its is 24" deep. I've read that this clam can live under lower powered lights. Don't want to buy if I can't keep alive.

I wouldn't do it. Watts are not the only determining factor when it comes to clams. Spectrum plays a big role too and PCs just don't cut the mustard.

You want to look/read about par values and how they differ between different lights. Spectrum is correct, more vaguely, light penetration. PC's have very little light penetration, especially in a 24 in. tank, I have a 24 in tank and I have 2 150W halides, this is enough for derasa's(I currently have 2), not so much for croceas or maximas, unless put up high in the rockwork. advanceaquarist has a lot of articles about par values.

I agree. I would be a little worried about putting a derasa in my tank as it only has 2 x 175 mh and 4 x 96 watt pc's
