When I get a chance I'm drawing up a design for my qt what i plan on doing is haveijg 3 aqua lifter pumps one 1 from a 5gallon bucket with fresh salt water it will pump into my sump and then one from Dt to qt and the one from the qt to waste bucket.

My qt is going to be a 5 gallon tank it will start half full of dt tank water with a heater and small pump to circulate the water. I float the bag.for about 1/2 hour the slowly open the bag and let it circulate that water in the qt then start my aqua lifters on a timer 5-10 minutes on and about 30-60 minutes off.

So in short this would end up acclimate the fish and do a small water change at the same time.

Then from there I can introduce to tank with a acrylic box with holes in it to introduce to the new tank mates
    How does this sound

    Sounds interesting.

To me a QT is a total separate tank that is there to hold new in coming fish, for an extended period of time, that you can easily monitor and add medication. Especially medications that contain copper. Thus not allowing a diseased fish to enter your DT.

I just acclimate with the LFS water (ask them for extra bags of water if more is needed) in a 5 gallon bucket and siphon water from my DT with air tubing with a mini ball valve.

Have you ever looked at one of these?Reef Gently AccliMate Acclimator / Transporter Tank

How does this sound, you ask?

First thing that comes to mind- overkill?

I agree with the genius that a QT is just that, to quarantine a new fish you're not sure if diseased or not.

Much like him, I just dump some of my DT water in Freshly made SW, using a 5g bucket. I use a sponge liter/airstone thingy. I leave them in there until they eat, and I'm comfortable they are Dz -

Research it a bit more, I could be wrong, and enjoy your day!
