I have type 1 and I was just wondering if anyone here has it and is on an insulin pump. I will be getting a pump soon [the Medtronic Minimed pump with continuous glucose monitor] and just wanting to know opinions on it, or just opinions about using the pump in general or any other pumps.

My wife has type 1 also. Not on the pump though. I replied also because I am curious as to how it will work out for you. Good luck and keep me posted.

My gf's brother and my best friend's gf has one. They both love em. They're both living a lot freer now that they can instantly dose for whatever they eat. Scott even takes it out for a couple of hours to surf. Best of luck with your first few sites. I heard they get easier to place as you get used to it. The adhesive is tough!

I will keep posted. I like how you can just disconnect it to go swimming and stuff. Yea I'm really getting tired of the needles. Anytime I eat I have to pull out my glucometer to check my sugar, then figure out how many carbs, then get my medicine and needle out, take the shot. And if Im out and about at a restaurant I have to go the bathroom since I take my novolog shots in the legs. It just takes way too long to get it all done just to eat a meal lol. I cant wait to get the pump so I just have to count the carbs and press the buttons. I have an appt on the 17th and should get the paperwork and everything started to get it then, so sometime after that I will have one. Sometimes my sugar gets really low and I cant feel it most of the time so the continuous glucose monitor will set an alarm off on the pump when it gets too low, which is really cool I think. I also think the one I am going to get is waterproof, not for swimming but its ok if you drop it in water for a sec. Incase I drop it in a bucket of water while getting ready for a water change I know it will be okay lol.

Yup, you sound exactly how Scott did before he got one. The boy practically lived on a short leash from his mother because she pretty much took control (she's a doctor and a mom, what do you expect). Once he got the pump it was a big relief for the both of them.
