My Goby swims around in the middle of the tank at feeding time and eats whatever food I am putting in the tank that day(Frozen, flake, dried). Then when that is gone he goes back to sifting the sand.;D

Mine mostly hides all day in a burrow with another goby (used to be two other gobies but one found an opening...). He will sneak out at feeding time though and grab whatever is on the bottom. The morning feedings are granules, either Formula 1 or 2, and the afternoon feedings are whatever I feel like frozen. He's been going strong for months.

Well I tried flaked today and the other fish and cleaner shrimp loved it but my gobie did not come out to eat. I think he must be sifting the left over food? Or there is enough stuff for him to eat in the sand. Never the less he is still alive and is sifting sand so he must be okay. I will keep an eye on him.

    Thanks for all the replies

Only you have a huge tank with a huge mature sand bed, he will starve without supplemental feeding.

    You should try my suggestions.

Thanks! I appreciate your info. I just put in some smaller frozen chunks in his 2 burrows.

My goby is doing great! I do have a question, I purchased a royal gramma and found his partially eaten body (tail and part of the body were missing) in my goby's burrow. Do gobies attack? Perhaps the royal gramma hid in his space and they had a fight, or did the RG die and sink under my LR's exactly in my goby's burrow? Did the crabs get him? The RG lasted about a week in my tank. My first death (besides a turbo snail). Luckily, I wasn't too attached yet.

Speaking of turbo snails, when they die, should I leave them and let the crabs feast?
