I was having a problem with my sand bed recently (clumping) and I sought help from the forum as to what could be causing this clumping. I received several suggestions concerning what could be the cause and some suggestions on how to alleviate the problem. It was suggested that I purchase a cuc consisting of some sand sifting snails by some and to purchase a good sand sifting goby by others. So, I placed an order with ReefCleaners for a quick cleaner package that consisted of 19 Nassarius snails among other snails (still waiting for the cuc to arrive). I also purchased a Diamond Goby from my LFS. The goby went right to work and within 2 days of being in my tank, my sand bed looks wonderful. However, my tank is so cloudy it looks like a dust storm went through. So, my question is this; Is the cloudy tank something I will have to live with as long has I have the goby? And, will the cloudy water eventually begin to clear. I have a carbon reactor in operation, so, I hope this will help to clear the water. Any suggestions and/or advise? Thank you.

This same thing happened when I got my Diamond Goby. Don't worry though it will clear up. It just happens over the course of the first few days. You will enjoy this fish, mine had a ton of personality.

Make sure that the top of your tank is completely covered as mine ultimately decided to jump. I opened the top to put a fan up there on a really hot day, and that was all the chance he needed.

Thanks cdgardner11. I do like this fish. And like yours, he does have a personality all his own. I purchased screen netting from BRS and a screen frame and corners from my local Home Depot. I built the screen while the goby was in quarantine so, when I was ready to add the goby to my D/T, the screen was in place. So far, so good.
