    Hello

I am having a difficult time with Diamond Gobies. First one jumped out so I sealed tank, second one somehow ended up in the overflow, and my third was found dead getting eaten this morning. I believe I am destine to not own one of these fish. I was told that if my sand is not clean enough they can get ammonia toxicity and die or try to get out. Can someone please let me know if this is a possibility? I have checked allot of forums and goby care from live aquaria, but no one mentions this.

    Thank You

Debating on getting another or calling it quits on the Goby.

What are your params? Thats the first question as always.

    How are you acclimating them?

Parameters are all within normal range. Having no problems with my other fish. I let the bag sit in the tank for approximately 20 min while slowly adding my water into the bag.

    Okay..

Try and acclimating it a lil longer possibly..Since they are getting ordered and shipped, they are more stressed out and other things take in place also.
But thats just my opinion..Maybe someone else can chime in and give better info.

When I received the fish he apeared to be in allright health only problem was his tail fin was spllit in multiple sections. While in the tank I only saw him filter sand a couple of times. He mainly hung out in the back of the tank under my live rock. I had him for about 3 days before he died.

He obviously either is not healthy or something is wrong with your tank..

With the other fish being fine doesnt mean that you can add a new fish and it be okay.

Old fish, corals with adapt to your params slowly and when you add a new fish it has to adapt somewhat quicker which will stress it out. If your params are where they should be, then there should be no problem..If not, then most likely the fish wont be able to adapt to those off params and die or not do well.
