i bought a diamond goby a week ago. my wife saw it acouple of days ago for a few seconds. when i was rearranging my rock work and feed the fish i finnally saw it. i have an open tank thinking it would jump out but i have other jumpers that dont jump out like a neon dottyback and a longnose hawkfish. some of the other fish i have are 2 damels, clownfish, kole tang, coral beauty angle, striped bleeny. i do have a lg hermit that i plan on getting rid of cause its just moving corals and rocks. the goby found a home under a rock. what is the timeframe b4 he will come out so we can see him? or will i have to get rid of a certain fish?

Diamonds are the same as anynother fish, they will come out when they dont feel threatened by anything,it should only be a few days though, itbtook mine about 2 days to come out

i have a goby, not a diamond though.. until now I barely see him. He just hides in his rock and comes out during feeding time. I think that's just how gobies are.

Actually diamond gobies are pretty active, they get a large amount of their nutrition from.sand sifting and eating the small critters that live in the sand. Mine was out all day everyday unless he got spooked, but he would come right back out.

I had 2 in the past. They watched me constantly. I had a couch and a chair by the tank, and wherever I sat, they would hang out & watch me. If I moved, they'd follow me.

These guy are usually very active, so I am sure in a few days he will be out shifting sand.

On a side note these guys really are jumpers. I had one that jumped and died and another that made me cover my overflow because he was always in it.

I have had about 4 diamond gobies over the last few years. They were all very active and I would not consider them to be shy at all. In fact they would come towards the top of the tank during feeding (my YWG would never do that). That being said, every diamond goby has jumped out, even with lids and canopy's.

Agree with all of this. They would always come to see me when I entered the room. One of my all time favorite fish.

Other fish are called jumpers cause they "have" jumped, these fish are actually jumpers.

one of my favorites too. Mine never hid but he was the first fish added to the tank so there wasn't anyone to hide from. However, mine will dissapear for a day or two at times. i didn't know they jumped. that worries me because mine can probably fit through the holes in my screen top.
