I have a diamond goby that has been in my tank since Saturday. He has been under a rock until the last day or so and today I notice its breathing hard. No other fish seem to be doing this. I took a video of it but not sure how to post it from tapatalk.

How did you obtain him? How did you acclimate? Did you QT him for observation? Was he the only fish with that purchase? What are your parameters?

From what you've said so far, it could be anything from mild stress to Brooklynella.

And yes, pics or video may help. Sorry I can't advise on posting from Tapatalk.

It is not unusual for a new Goby to stay hidden for a couple or even few days. It took my Tiger Wardi almost a week before he would actually come out of the rock he lived under. In the meantime I just shot some food by the opening of his rock to make sure he ate. What kind of substrate do you have?

I drip acclimated him. Bought the goby and a fire fish at the same time. The fire fish is doing fine. I don't have a quarantine.

My goby came out right after he got into my tank, he was a curious little guy. See if you can get a picture of him, if he ever pops out. I reccommend to stay completely still infront of your tank and dont do any rapid movements. If you do this, some gobies might come out and look. Mine does that often. Hes always out, but he dissappears into his cave whenever somebody makes any rapid movements. If you then stay still for 15 seconds, he'll come out again and continue hes thing. Do you got any other gobies or blennies in your tank? If so, they can sometimes stress eachother out and kill eachother. Also, was the goby in a tank with another goby? It might have been a mated pair, and whenever they get separated, its not unusual for them to be rather "depressed" and stressed out. Trying to get as much info as possible. Also, has he accepted any food yet, or has he been sifting the sand? Its always a good sign if a new fish eats, and especially sandsifting gobies if they sift their sand.

Substrate is sand. I haven't seen him eat but I have seen him sifting sand to clean out his spot. I'll try and get a good pic of him. I took a video with my iPhone of him breathing hard but I don't know how to post it.

No other gobies in the tank. Just two clowns , a royal gramma , coral beauty angel, pajama cardinal and the fire fish. A lot of snails and hermit crabs.

Okay, sounds good then. He might have some parasites or some sort of disease, so keep a close eye on him next couple of days. Make sure to look for: Red gills, popped eyes, white spots, black spots, itching on rocks, and starvation. If we could get a picture of this guy, it would be wonderful :)

Is it fine sand, or on the course side?

For videos, easiest way is if you can upload it to Youtube (you may need to create an account). Then after it is uploaded, copy the letters and numbers of the URL after the = (I think there are 11). Then do an advanced post, hit the Youtube button, and paste those letters/numbers between.
