I am new to salt water tanks. I am in the middle of my first diatom bloom. Some of the blooms are turning green. but some of the blooms look like they are turning translucent is this normal for blooms.

Never heard that one before. Diatom blooms are normal in a new tank, how big is that tank, and do you have enough flow in there? That usually keeps it to a minimum.

Turning to green I would say is normal, but I don't know about translucent?

A cycling tank will undergo algae blooms. Algae comes in countless colors and forms so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

    ^^ that.

The green is probably cyano (it comes in several colors too).

if you don't like the look try adding some GFO to the tank to reduce the phosphates. also use only ro/di water
