    Hi guys,

I finally have my first diatom outbreak. Any suggestion on what type of Clean Up Crew I should be buying?

Hit up reefcleaners.org Check out their custom cleanup crews. Fill in the short set of questions about your tank and they will send you a suggested cleanup crew. Plus they have great service.

Your diatom bloom will go away all on its own in a week or two, so just clean your "windows" and leave the rest. The more you fool with it, the longer it will stay around.

As for your CUC, my advice is to stock lightly at first since your tank has no food for them at this stage. This will let you see which snails do best for your particular setup. If you stock too heavily, or go with a "package", you'll end up with things that may not be best for your setup, and there will be too many, which means they'll all starve back to what your tank will support anyhow. Why waste money?

Here's a little article on choosing your first CUC:
