    diatoms are from silicates. absolutely need them, then it runs out in the tank they die off. a cuc keeps it slightly in the process, but it just needs to burn out. silica in your salt, the more frequent you do changes in a short time the longer it can last. If a mature tank did a 100% water change today they would have diatom problems, (albeit not as bad a s a new tank). Even if you used RO. I am big on grammar today apparently. :)

    Ya im using RO, but I slowed my water changes down. Seems to be slowing down. Also got some Cert snails, they seem to love eating it. :)
