I have never had diatoms in my refugium. Have had my fuge up for over a year and all of the sudden there's a huge bloom. Anybody have any suggestions why this happend all of the sudden?

dang you know what I did just put a new bulb in for my fuge...that really make a big difference? So should I just set the lamp to be on for less time than it is?

The bloom should go away if you parameters are OK. Put some snails that eat diatoms in the fuge. You probably should consider changing bulbs more often in the fuge. Keep the light period so your macro won't go sexual.

chaeto will not go asexual, trim it back to export the nutrients, diatoms should go away eventually
