In my new 180---- outbreak of brown, looks like diatoms. I transferred my fish over about a week ago after cycling this tank for 4 months. I transferred live rock, 50% old water, fish , coral , no old sand. Everything looks great, water params are good. When I see diatoms doesn't that mean the tank is cycling... Isn't this bad? Everybody looks ok except my kole who is acting like she is itchy and spaz-ing out.

The diatoms will go again. The tang is probably stressed by the changes.

Perfectly normal.... not the tang flashing though, that could be Ich. I guess that's perfectly normal as well, just not desirable. The Diatoms will fade on their own. If you mess with it, it will prolong it.

All that diatoms are indicative of is the presence of silicates; nothing more.

Well, some say its actually a good sign. It shows that your cycle is going the right way. But yes, diatoms grows when silicate are there, which typically comes from aquarium sand, it will eventually disappear, so dont worry about that. Its only a good sign :)
