    If your seeing diatoms your tank is fully cycled right?

    P.S its not my tank so I cannot give you parameters.

    Usually it marks the "beginning of the end". Although I got mine a week after my cycle.

    Your cycle is over when your ammonia and nitrite hit zero and your nitrate is <20.

    ammonia and nitrite was reading zero when we tested it on wednesday, nitrates are reading about 5ppm, I really don't think the tank even had a cycle it started with well established sand and live rock basically we just did a 100% water change.

    I would add some food to the tank and if there's no ammo/trite spike in two days, add fish.

    It's a good sign, but diatoms and the cycle are independent factors. Usually the timing of diatoms coincides with the end of our cycles, but it's not a sure fire indicator as they can occur anytime really. But as you have said the params are reading 0, that is a great sign. ;)

    Were not gonna add fish for another week or so, but do you think its safe to get a CUC
    ?
