    I keep my params as near perfect as I can... calcium 450 and mg 1500 and see no need in buying the expensive stuff, keep your params. good and coralline will follow. "Build it and they will come" LOL! IMO stay away from the shortcuts, nothing is a shortcut in reefing.

    I personally dont like P up, well to be fair, I've never used it. But if your going to use it, you must test for iodine. All you need is a good level of Cal, Mag and alk and a good light to achieve good coraline. Just my 2 cents. Luna

    well,if you "overdue" it with that stuff your fish will start gasping for air and their scales will turn white,i think its called "alkalosis"...i wouldn't use it just because it contains more than one chemical, if you need mag dose that,strontium..dose that etc etc. putting them all in premixed "purple up" is a very risky move, imo

    and if your not sure what to dose,DONT DO IT!;D

    well i wouldn't let it go past 1450 neither below 1300 others have their opinions
    if your tank is 125g or smaller a water change should take care of all that, unless you have
    a lot of corals that consume over 10 to 20ppm's a day

    That Q has many answers, some like to mimic NSW and some like too push the envelope. I personaly tried doing the "pushing the envelope" way and all I did was chase my tail. So I just try to keep my # as follows;
    Cal.....380-450
    Mag....1250-1450
    Alk/Dkh....2.5-4.0/9-12
    Temp....77-79
    Sg.....1.023-1.025

    The reason some ppl like high numbers is b/c they want thier corals to grow faster. Like I said, I tried that, but all I did was pull my hairs out and spend alot of money. Remember that when you bring one element up, the other one goes down. My numbers are lower than other ppl's, but Iam not in a hurry. Hope this has answered your Q. Luna

    I agree with what he stated. If you have a "normal" load, WC should take care of thier(corals) needs. But when you have alot of demanding corals, thats when you need to pump up the supply. Luna
