Did first water change, salanity is lower

ok, i'm so glad that the salanity rose during my cycling, i would have been devestated if that were to kill/harm any livestock

 

makes sense, i will take all ofthis into consideration

 

Next time you go to the LFS take your hydrometer with you. Ask them to check their water with their refractometer and then with your hydrometer so you can see what they are mixing their to and you can check the accuacy of your hydrometer. I would guess that they are mixing at 1.025 and your hydrometer reads a little low.

 

ok, i can't wait until i get a refractometer, it will be so much easier

 

For me, fresh mixed saltwater needs to sit for at least a good 24 hours before I trust my SG reading.... FYI

hope that's in an air tight container. if it's not, it needs a powerhead. one or the other works for me.

you can always adjust already mixed saltwater by adding salt or FW... it's not that hard... but if you have to do this, I'd opt for just mixing my own to begin with...
