Ok, I got this new 55gal tank from a guy who didn't want it anymore for $60 (I was kinda bummed because his ad said $65 OBO, but his "mail order wife" as my bf put it wouldn't let it go for under $65, finally she agreed on $60)
And I got this acrylic sump for $40 (Not sure what how many gals but its 24x10")
    What do you guys think?

If you got all there for $100, you got a pretty good deal. I just saw a new 55g with stand and a few extras (for a FW set up) going for $250 at the local pet store (today in fact). And the stand wasn't as nice as the one you have......

I think 55g tanks are the most underrated of all tank sizes. They can fit almost anywhere due to their width and look bigger than they really are from the front......

Actually Pharmr, that's why I liked the setup because the stand is so glossy and pretty, lol.
I am so proud of that sump tho!

$100 for the tank, sump, stand and canopy? Thats a freakin steal if you ask me. The 55g tank alone is worth $150. Of course, depends on the condition too.

Thats what I have yet to find out. I just have to get my boyfriend to get off his butt and help me, lol. ::)

The tank looks a little dusty, but it doesn't look like its ever been touched really. :victory:
The sump has a few scratches on the bottom and there's some salt crust all over it, but I mean hey, could be a lot worse for $40. In fact its in near perfect condition. The scratches are barely even there.

I was actually about to post a "Wanted" ad asking if anyone had any saltwater supplies (live rock, sump, pump, skimmer, overflow, CUC, etc.) on Craigslist and as soon as I hit post I went back to the pets section and a guy had put up an ad just before me for a wet/dry that he didn't need.
He had bought it for $220 from another guy who only used it for a year before he decided to go bigger. The one I bought it from decided to get a 300gal instead of his 60gal. ;D

Definetly a good deal. General rule of thumb is pay $1 per gallon for a used tank. So consider you got that stand for $5, not bad!

As for the sump, that's not too shabby either. Did it come with an overflow?
