Yesterday I bought a 55 gallon aquarium, 50-55lbs of dry rock, 5 pumps including a mag 7, berlin protien skimmer, hang on the back refugium, a 10g sump, a hood with a retrofit Hamilton Tech 2 175w metal halides and 2 t12 acitics with a big Hamilton Tech ballast. everything is about 4 years old, but hasn't been used in over a year. Also, everything works, just needs cleaning.
I bought it all for $110

I plan on cleaning up the 55g and selling it because I have a 75g that I got from my uncle, it just needs to be resealed. I plan on using the equipment on the 75g as a reef tank.

Of course my wife hates it.

Definitely sounds like a deal. You're lucky theres never deals in my area. People sell thier walmart 55g with fiber board walmart stand for $10 more than retail usually. Its horrible.

There is a lot of that here too. People don't understand that they will never see the money they have in aquariums. I've seen people selling a 55 with stand and canopy, regular equipment for $400. I understand the stand and canopy cost money new, but I can build a better one myself, that I know will last for much less.

I know, right? Buy a few 2x6's and some 2x4's and just saw them and screw them together and do a nice cover and finish... you're out what... maybe 60 bucks if you buy nice wood? Then another 20 for some nice wood to cover it and that's if you don't have anything laying around... and maybe another 20 in sealant... so 100 bucks for a nice stand with canopy custom made for your tank and space?

Or you can buy the worthless particle board ones that cost $150 and if you get it wet, your tank will collapse.
