Please help. I just got rodi water from the same lfs I always use. I mixed my salt to 1.023. About one hour after doing a 10 gal water change in a 50 gal tank, all of my fish are dying... What happened????

Could the lfs have sold me chlorinated water?

Hate to say it, but that's what it sounds like. Do you have a QT or HT set up where you can transfer the survivors? Don't know what their chance of survival will be, but it would be worth a try.

check the salinity of the tank now too. Any big temp differences in the new water?

no, i only set up a qt when needed. but I don't have water I can trust to set one up now.
I added aqua safe when I first noticed the problem. One clown seems to be hanging on, everyone else looks dead.
    anything else I can do?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Run new carbon and get as much O2 into the tank as you can. A 10 gallon water change in a 50 gallon tank with chlorinated water would not cause mass casualties IMO. I believe there is another pathogen at work. Check for stray voltage as well if you can, or a broken heater.

Very unfortunate I hope some pull through.

    +1 on the stray voltage

My system is grounded with a titanium tire spoke. I learned the hard way that if I let the water level get too low and it breaks contact with the spoke, then the fish all get a sudden shock.

Maybe something you did in your water change affected one of your electrical components in some way.

As said before a 10 in a 55 shouldnt start that fast killing but.what about the container you transported the water in. Have you tested for other spikes in your parms.

ammonia, nitrite, nitrate all test 0. Phosphate tests 0. PH tests 8.2 temp 78.2 salinity1.023 how do I check for stray voltage? I stood next to the tank bare footed and put my fingers in tank, didn't feel anything.

I have two containers that are used for water only. no contaminates there.

Clown is barely hanging on, anything else I can do?

it almost sounds as if you had added bleach.....idk what else could kill fish this fast that it is a pathogen... it sounds more like a toxin to me..

you could turn everything off and see if there is an improvement... then that way you could sort of see if there is stray voltage. i think.
