So I made an impulse order... I always do my research and try to make the best decision for my tank and the fish. I wanted to raise a pair of onyx clowns so I'm preparing my tank for that. I was at my LFS and I ordered a sabea anemone.. The lady said they host them fairly easily so I thought great il take one.... Well I get home and do some searching and it requires high lighting and great water. Well I'm running a 4 bulb t5ho fixture 54w per bulb in my 55 gallon with a 2 inch Sand bed. A bulb just recently burned out so I'm buying 3 new ati bulbs. Do you think the anemone will survive? Or should I cancel the order? She wont send the order til fri so I have time

yes sebae anemone are hard to keep alive. go for a bubble, if you can find a split from someones tank that will have the best survival rate

I agree, not the easiest anemone by far, especially in a newly set up tank.

    You already have a Condy?

If so I would for sure not get the Sebae.

hate to admit this but i have tried sebaes a few times, and when i see them in the fish store now, i keep in my head how they don't do well in tanks and walk away now.
i was temped 2 weeks ago and said no i will most likely just end up watching it die in my tank, and thats sad.
    they are beautiful creatures

Ok so it's a bad idea? I will call her tomoro and cancel

I have a condy not by choice really, a guy was gonna trash it but I said no lr me try and it's been anchored and it's eating and seems ok

Will a bubble tip be ok? Is my lighting enough? If so I think I will jut swap my sabea for a bubble tip

A BT might be OK. It needs a spot high on the rocks, and even then, it may crawl up the glass to get higher. You have good bulbs, so that helps. Hopefully, your reflectors are good ones too.

Your lighting will be more than sufficient to house anything you desire with ATI bulbs.

4 T5HO bulbs is more than enough for whatever you want to keep, including SPS and clams. :)

How long has your tank been running? BTAs do best in a mature, stable tank.

My tank is roughly 5 maybe 6 months old. I do biweekly water changes, run chemipure elite and use ro di water.

The bta at my LFS is under standard bulbs like what the tank comes with. My fixture is a coralife fixture if it makes any difference

If the bta sticks to the side of my glass will the clowns host?

Well lets just get this out of the way. Pretend I am member Vinny " clown fish only host parasites". The anemone is always the host in the clown fish relationship.

It's anyone guess where your clown fish may reside, they may ignore the BTA and take up with the Condy, although less likely.

A BTA should be footed within the rock work or at the base, anywhere else and that is a good sign it's needs are not being met.

There is no certainty that if you get another anemone your clowns will have anything to do with it.
