    You could purchase one of these. Not sure how well/poorly they work but I can tell you that I wouldn't trust those suction cups to hold it up for very long:

    if the flow is low enough, it will work... but idk because I think the flow through there would be to high to grow lots of pods and stuff?
    Is there a way you can hinder or divert some flow from it?

    It's not really just the flow that's an issue. One needs to modify the filter so that it doesn't get jammed up with sand and grass which you will need to put into it in order for it to work as a refugium. You also need to provide enough light over the filter to grow the grass that the pods need to hide and breed in. If it was as easy as just jamming some stuff into a filter, everyone would be doing it :)

    Easiest way would be to cut a bit off of each impeller blade. Or maybe put a filter sponge in front of the output of the pump if you don't want to go hacking up your blades.

    Some people base their reefkeeping practices on that principle :)
