    Hey everyone,

I was just doing some maintenance on my tank: doing a 10% water change, scraping the corners of the tank where I can't get in with my Mag Float, and siphoning some of the algae off the rocks. I then took out all the powerheads to clean them and I cleaned them with hot water (to get the algae off and try to kill it) when after I cleaned the powerheads, I noticed some awesome coralline algae growth.

It is awesome shades of red, purple, and orange, and now I was wondering if because I cleaned the powerheads with hot water, did I just kill all that new algae growth?

Yea, yo probably did, it will most likely turn white in a day or so. Don't worry it will grow back soon enough.

For some reason it gets redder when it is dried up out of the water. Not long after it goes back in it turns white. Don't worry about it. You'll have more soon.
