    IME, I'm sorry to say that the once or twice I dropped any dry additive into my tank unintentionally, only to land on an open coral--it was havoc. Be it salt, magnesium, even alk liquid that immediately coalesced into the gel-like substance it does when it hits water--whenever this has happened to me, the affected corals either died, or never quite made it back to the way they were before the event.

    Of course, this is only my experience, and yours may vary; hopefully for the better.

    For future reference; next time (hope not) but if it happens again, either take an algae scraper and "fan" over the affected coral or if possible, pick it up and swish it through the water to rid it of the foreign substance.
