    Did my Condy Anemone die?

Oh no! Came home to this! Doesn't look good. Was healthy and looking good when I left home. Gone 3 hours. Circulation pump was pushing water on it, but pump on other side of tank. I have 2 pumps and run them together and/or separate to create different water currents. Been like that for a little but so it's not new. Would think if he didn't like the water current would just move.
Is it dead? Also hard to tell if it's moving. Pumps off but still some current.

Ok it's coming back. I tried to erase this thread. Since I can't and it's coming back maybe I can learn why this happened

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Simple fluid exchange. Anemones inflate and deflate to some degree routinely. People seem to stress over this the most, the anemone usually returns to a more normal appearance in a few hours.

Changing the flow might cause the anemone to move to a spot it likes better.

    Thanks for the reply

It's doing it again. This morning was full except a couple tentacles. Right now it's completely flat and empty. Is there a reason it does that?
Want to make sure it's not an issue with water or something inside tank

How long have you had this anemone? If it been less that a week it's probably just acclimating.

Always test water chemistry when in doubt.

Condys are incredibly hardy, if you started with a healthy specimen and water chemistry/quality is appropriate the anemone should be fine, just fluid exchange.

Thanks again for the reply. Water levels are good. Just tested again
I just got it about a week ago so that's probably it.
It also happened right after I fed it. Fish store (both of them) originally told me dried shrimp is the best to feed. But on here I've been told that's bad. So I fed him thawed scallop.

    Glad it's coming back!

Yea, my watermelon BTA does the same thing once in a while.

If you've only had a a wk, not to worry as Cheryl stated.

As others have said, normal acclimation and behavior. I would caution you about feeding too much. Anemones do get most of their nutrition from light. However, supplemental feedings can be good but be cautious not to feed too much or too often. Feeding a small amount of fresh seafood or Mysis shrimp about once a week should be more than enough. If you overfeed, it can cause the anemone to be in poor health.
