So I got this [FONT=&quot]favite brain the other day and while reading about its eating habits the introduction of meaty and plankton was recommended.

So I look and the feeding tenticals are about 2-3 inches long about an hour after MH out. So I put a chunk of frozen silverside in my tongs and start squeezing off the particals and juices above the brain. When I was done a fairly large chunk was left over and floated down where the tenticals could reach it. The tentacles immediately grabbed it and pulled it down. I sat and watched as the chunk of silverside slowly vanished into the flesh of the favite brain. Now there is a bulge there.

So did it actually envelope the whole chunk or did the tentacles simply pick it apart and the whole process was just an illusion of being taken in. The reason I ask is because If the brain is eating entire chunks, should I be scattering food around its entire structure or does feeding one location feed the whole brain which I was under the impression was hundreds of individual polyps.

Im wondering if this was incorrectly identified and is actually a favia moon coral not a favite brain?

It is hard to tell from the picture with all of the tentacles in the way but I am pretty positive it is not favites brain coral. It looks like Favia or Montastrea from what I can tell.

Yes, they can definitely eat large chunks of meat although it's not always the best for them when they're so large. You may find it will end up puking some of it back up later, or it might not.
I believe favias share nutrients so you don't have to feed every polyp but each polyp's digestive system can only handle so much so I would scatter some small chunks of meat around the whole thing.
