Oops... I know impulse buying is a big NO NO but I saw this guy and figured he would be a good addition! He is aggressive enough to handle himself with the current dottyback, talbot's damsel and female clown. He's an electric blue damsel. Got him yesterday and he has settled in nicely overnight. The dottyback was really going at him for the first hour but then settled. Now for the most part, everyone is settled. I thought the Talbot's was going to be my last addition, but went to an LFS that I normally don't go to and saw these guys and figured he would do wonderfully and LOVED the glowing blue look! So, I will admit he was an impulse buy! Lol... But I knew a bunch about these fish before getting him so, it's not too horrible.

They are absolutely gorgeous. I would be careful adding any more to the tank due to its small size and the aggressive nature of the rest of the inhabitants.

Soooo when are you upgrading? Or are you going to be rehoming someone once full grown?

Yea lol. There was a bit of fighting but everyone now has their own spot and I haven't seen any fighting or even chasing at all today.

I may upgrade eventually, but I am keeping all of the fish. They are all already full grown. The biggest the biggest fish I have gets only get 3" max! I bought all of them as full grown adults. There is lots of room.. And I rearanged my rocks a little today to make it easier for them to find their territory and there are LOTS of hiding places. I think the fighting is actually pretty much done. Definately no more fish now though lol.

    Congrats on the addition, Holly.

I'm a big fan of Damsels, myself- they're beautiful, easy to care for, and most stay relatively small. I've found that providing plenty of hiding places works wonders at calming the aggression.

    Good luck! :)

Yea, my thoughts exactly! The blue damsel ended up beating up the dottyback (about time lol) So, now the dottyback has stopped chasing and nipping at the talbot's and trimma. The dottyback has some bite marks and nipped fins and went into hiding for a while, but is now out and eating and doing great. Stays clear of the blue damsel now though :p I find that blue isn't nearly as aggressive towards everyone else as the dottyback was (so far). I changed around the rocks to make more hiding places and I may end up adding another 2lbs rock in the back left corner for the dottyback ;) The clown is still boss though lol
The talbot's and blue get along surprisingly well though... I figured that's where most of the fighting would happen but there is only a little flaring and then they go about their buisness. My scaping is probably exactly how it needs to be to keep aggression down, like you said ;P I actually was never a fan of damsels before but ever since my clown went evil there isnt many more choices that are aggressive enough, reef safe and fit in a 20gal. So far so good!

That's what I was hoping for!!! Now I just need to keep my eye on her so she doesn't end up getting too aggressive with everyone else as she settles in. I'm prepared to tear everything out to catch her if need be though... Keeping my fingers crossed :p
