    Just got a digital thermometer. It reads about 2 degrees lower than my in tank glass one. Wich on is more accurate?

    Welcome, In tank one would be more accurate then the outside one, because it is directly in the water, just make sure its not near anything that could give wrong readings like the heater or powerhead motor...

    the digital one has a prob in the tank 2. It just reads lower than the stander glass with the red stuff in it one. And yes that is a technical description. LOL

    the glass one.

    as stated, dont' check next to your heater or next to a heat source (MH).

    I would go with the digital one, the internal one with the red liquid, glass i take it can be a pain in the butt if it smashes and releases all that mercury into the water...

    not sure what they use but i dont think it mercury anymore unless its real old?

    are you asking which is more accurate or which to go with?


    I keep the glass one in my tank. It uses physics to measure the temp.

    The digital ones use fallible electronics and calibrations. I trust the glass one. :p

    Can't argue with that, glass is more reliable but not as safe or digital safer, i use digital, and immerse a glass one every now and then for 10mins just to check its reading the same...
