difference between biocube and JBJ??

what the difference between the two? and i see some ppl mod their lights with hqi, and even t5's are they DIY? or do they sell an easy plug and play lighting upgrade?

 

i have the new jbj with led canopy and wave maker,4 weeks old and i have no complaints as im limited for space,perfect for me,fish doing fine and have one elegance coral at present which i transfered from my old 14 cube.

 

Biocube hood covers the entire top. JBJ is open over the sump area. IMO it provides better gas exchange, but might increase evaporation. JBJ is available with led, whereas Biocube is not.

 

my 6 gallon hood go's over the sump area, are you talking about the vents?

I love my biocube hqi. I think many people forget about the HQI version. It has a glass top which can be removed allowing more light penetration (i dont think you need anymore) and more oxygen exchange. I run a in stand sump so I do not feel removing the glass is needed. Even though I have a new 90g the 29 hqi will remain my pride and joy. Also oceanics customer service is impeccable.

 

theres not much difference in the 2 with the exception that jbj offers led lights and bio cube just has pc or hqi. I personally like the biocube 29 hqi, if you get the pc version then thats where most of the light mods come into play. they make replacement light kits with led lights or there are also some t5 light fixtures that fit nicely on the biocube if you remove the top.
