Difference between True and False Percs?

    Hey guys,

    What's the best way to identify between a True Percula and a False Percula?

    The only way to tell for sure is by counting the spines in the dorsal fin. I'm not 100% sure but if I remember right Percs have 13.

    Ya the best way would be to get a picture of one when his/her fin is up. Then you can go back and count it.

    The true perc has a more prominent bulge, and has an orange iris.

    The false perc has a less prominent bulge, and a black iris.

    There's nothing guaranteed about the "bulge". There's occelaris clowns bred to have all sorts of shapes of the bar, and I'd imagine many that come out of ORA as regular clowns (and many clowns from that lineage....) have larger bulges due to the breeding taking place to get snowflake and other clowns.
