Hey everyone so my female perc has been acting a little different lately..I have had the pair for about 4 months..they came from the same breed, just regular percs but they were bought from a local reefer that breeds them..They are 100% mated, and the past few days i have noticed my female just hanging out at the top front right corner of my tank..she has pretty just stayed there the whole time..Since I had them they swam together slept in the same nem for ever and basically did everything, maybe a few minutes out of the day literally they wouldnt be next to each other..theyre about 2"ish..There have been no changes in my water params since they have been put in along with my other fish..No other fish nor corals are doing anything different..She basically shows no affection the her mate or anything..she just swims with her nose down like shes sleeping..she never leaves unless there is food and then she goes back to the spot..she eats fine, swims fine, does nothing different, she just doesnt leave the spot...No other fish are stressing her, no ick, no fin trouble...Any ideas of whats going on?? i run carbon and gfo..

Mine has been doing the same thing after i added another clown so there is my mated pair plus one. But normall the female of mine would hang out at the top after they spawned.

ok well that explains alot..so the other day i saw here in a cave of some rocks, a place i have never seen her or the male and my tank is in my room so im always looking at it...could she have laid eggs at just over 2inches..i thought they had to be over like 2 years..or could it just be something that happens maybe she is getting used to spawning or whatever, maybe getting used to the process or something, idk im at a loss and cant type out what im trying to say.. im not nervous about losing her or anything, shes 100% healthy..but she absolutely shows no affection to the male, and they used to nibble on each other all day..in a loving way i guess..

now supposedly the clown that is not mated will die from aggression of the others..unless you have a very large tank and people still say that is a risk..

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Keeping a third clown is a death sentence eventually. It is the nature of the beast. In large tanks with multiple anemones and pairs it can be done but a third clown is just a rival and competition to a pair of clownfish and they will kill it.

I think clownfish relationships are kind of like human relationships. They go through highs and lows. My clownfish are over 3 years old and they have big fights and then everything is fine. Sometimes they hang together and sometimes they stay in their respective corners.

I would keep an good eye on her though. She should be leaving the area more routinely IMO at that age.
