different color lights

    at the moment i have a MH setup with 4 t5 ho in 1 lighting setup. i see people with purple and red lights. whats the purpuse of those? i have 4 T5 actinic blues atm. so i was just wondering y ppl have defferent color bulbs.

    the diffrent color light make diffrent colors in the corals pop more

    just a personal preference. the red and purple bulbs will emphasize the reds and purple corals in the tank.

    Red lights and LEDs are commonly used in hydroponics and not suited to marine aquariums. They increase growth in plants...and algae. I would try to get some Ecoxotic Violet and blue strips if you want color enhancement. Something in 450NM and 470NM.
