different lightning?

    has anyone tried other kinds of lighting.(halogen,mercury vapor,sodium filled) Would they work fish or reef?

    I myself have not(that I know of), I've always used CF's and MH's

    halogen lights wont work
    some metal halides are mercury or sodium based but need specific ballasts to fire the bulb
