I purchased my RKE a couple months ago, but was waiting for the new tank to get set up before I put it all together. I spent several hours last Friday, and it's all programmed now, ready to be taken downstairs and plugged in. [IMG]

It came with a teeny battery - CR1216 - in the unit. The battery was dead. After 7 stores, I finally found one. I've been trying to get ahold of DA customer service to ask why they would actually install the battery in the unit, since it died, and also that is how corrosion starts.

Does anyone have a number that you can actually get through? I just have the 425 number from their web site. No one answers - ever - and my message is not being returned. Is this what I have to look forward to w/ this company, or is this a fluke? Thanks.

Post on their forums. They respond a decent amount of times. They always tell people to email them, so maybe they don't have phone staff. I get the impression it is a really small company

I can tell you that a CR1216 battery that is installed in the unit probably sat in Energizer's warehouse for a month before they shipped it to a wholesaler, who had it sit in the warehouse for another couple of months. Then, DA probably installed it within a couple weeks to a month, then (if you bought it from a store) the RKE itself probably sat in a warehouse, then the store, for another few months before you bought it, and then a couple months in your house. That battery was probably live when they installed it, and dead by the time you opened and installed the RKE.

This is from my experience with watch batteries, which includes the larger CR batteries. It happened to us all the time - we'd install a battery, and a month later the customer would come back and say "Hey, the battery you just gave me was dead!". Half the time it's the watch, but the other half, it's the battery itself.

But, DA's customer service is kinda slow. Send them an email, and you'll get a response at some point. I could never get to them via phone.
