Just getting into corals and couldn't remember which corals you cant dip with rx. I just purchased a rainbow lobo, metallic green hammer, and fruit tart acan from aqua sd, can I dip all 3 of these ofcoarse one at a time after drip acclimation? Any other tips besides a minimum of 5" of space for these guys?
    Thanks

10-20 sec freshwater dip. throw em in, they are already stressed.

tagging along: always wondered if you should dip them after accimilation or not. it seems pointless to me to drip the coral and them dip them in a harsh iodine solution. Wouldnt it be more appropriate to just dip them in the iodine and then just put them in the tank rather then accimilate first?

So a quick dip in DI water and in they go, no drip acclimation. This is something I have kinda wonderd about for awhile now, if there already stressed from shipping wouldnt keeping them in QT then move to Dt stress them all over again? Ecspecially if you have a different lighting system, I dont have 6-t5ho bulbs over my seperate/ QT tank. But i'm no expert and read very heavily. When I bought my fish at the LFS I drip acclimate them and in they go but I know the LFS. Just seems like chasing them around and catching them would stress them out again so they would need to go back into QT, same as never taking them out of there permanent home.

I prefer not doing freshwater dips on my corals because of their poor ability to osmoregulate, I fear that some polyps may get damaged (cell repture) duing the procedure. I do however dip all my new corals in an iodine bath like Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure before introducing them into my tank. Understandably I get a bit paranoid about introducing things like flatworms into my display tanks. Besides preventing flatworms, I also believe that dipping a new coral in an iodine solution helps it recover from the stress of transport and reduces the chance of microbial/bacterial infection on the new coral.

FW can be a death sentence for coral, especially SPS. The Coral Rx should be fine. Just make sure you use water from the DT with the Coral Rx and the rinse water after using it.

I didn't acclimate them but did dip them in rx, don't want anything bad in the tank. Rinsed them off after the dip and they were open in 2 hrs in the DT.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I agree big time. Much better dips and much less stressful for lps than FW.

I've dipped corals in both iodine and the coral rx. i noticed things don't fall off when dipping with with the iodine, crabs stay in the coral with iodine, but not with the coral rx . IMO coral rx is the far better choice for dipping corals
