dirty water

I just got in 2 new corals. One of the bags have realy dirty water in it. Shipped in. Is this some thing you have seen before. I never have. Thoughts?

 

Nope, never seen it before. What kind of coral is it and what is its condition at the moment?

 

could be the coral releasing it's mucus and whatnot into the water due to the stress of shipping.

 

I was thinking the same thing. My first anemone dirtied the water on the drive home, it released a bit of it's toxins, maybe some of its zooxanthellae with the stress of transporting it. I just wouldn't let any of the bag water into the display tank.

 

no this is like muddy water but just dirty. It is a blue organ pipe coral

 

Yuck, if it's muddy water there is something wrong. You may have gotten a direct shipment from their supplier. I know that I bought an angler once from my LFS before they even had a chance to put it into their holding display tanks and that water was pretty nasty. It may be the same situation? Your's may have been just arrived and sent out as is without even removing it from the original bag from the supplier.

 

Do you have a quarentine tank? I would make sure its okay before adding it. Dont let ANY of that water into your tank. That is so strange. Never heard of it.
