I've went through 2 Grammas, until I said "enough". They're very elusive, as mine spent almost the entire day hiding in rock-work. They would only come out to eat (like pigs!) then go back to hiding. A beautiful fish...but a jumper too. I have egg-crate on top of my tank to provide ample gas exchange between the water surface and the room atmosphere...yeah, little buggers jumped out both times! I like to keep the tops of my tanks as open as possible and I simply cannot keep Grammas because of it.

Do you have an overflow box for your tank? I kid you not, when I used to have a wet dry filter, my royal gramma would get into the overflow box, swim up the syphon tube, and hang out in there. It could actually go back and forth between the tank and the overflow at will. Crazy.

APC..... I've had that happen as well. We thought the fish was gone.... couple days later, he'd be back. Then he'd dissapear again. We'd tear the tank apart looking for him.. Then one day we found him in the over flow box.

I've had nothing but good luck with mine. Its out all the time and my tank is open in the back. I've always thought that RG's were not jumpers. I'm probably just lucky that mine hasnt jumped yet.
