You can get rid of ich in your tank without a UV sterilizer. Yes, it does require a little bit of work. Right now I have my three fish in a qt tank with hyposalinity treatment going and no fish in my main tank until Feb so that any ich in my tank will die off (hopefully). Here are some articles on this.

Then what I have been told to maintain an ich free aquarium is to qt the devil out of any new fish you get. This is just what I have read and I am very new at this.

I agree with the Quaratining but for Ick Seachem Focus and Metronidazole and Garlic guard are awesome and are added to your food.

when i would turn my light on in the morning my tang would always come out covered in whiite spots for a while i thought it was ick but found it he layed on his side at night in the sand and after an hour or so the spots would be gone so take a look to see how your fish are resting. i always had luck feeding garlic to my fish soak it in brine shrimp or bloodworms i just use the kolic garlic that you can get at like gnc like twice a week no ick infections so far (knock on wood).

tmkx3 blood shrimp are a type of cleaner shrimp and theres a pretty good chance they will help clean the fish but not quite as reliable as the regular skunk cleaner shrimp. for the garlic i add a few drops to the frozen food and let it soak as it thaws out then feed the fish with it.
