My wife just informed me that we have about 50 gallons of our 60 gallon tank on the living room floor. I only have 4 fish and she was able to get them into a large bin we use for water changes. Will they be okay for about 2 days until I get back in town? 2 false percs, a royal gramma and a sort of goby. I had her put a small power head in the bin. Also will the live rock be okay in buckets of salt water without circulation? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am feeling completely helpless being out of town.

Thanks for any help or guidance:cry:

don't forget the heater and a thermometer! I would keep the light off them to reduce stress.

I would add garlic to the food to help with immune system while they're in this stressed state.

You may also be able to rent a space at your LFS for them...

Your live rock should be fine, fish in a bucket should be ok for a few days as long as you get some oxygen in the water and the temp stays good.

Was you able to add any of the tank water with them?? I would fear there is no bacteria to sustain the fish. Maybe throw some LR in there too.

Dang, that's harsh. How are you going to get that water off the floor? That's one of my worst fears. Karma to you and good luck with everything. If you can get some aeration in the water (small powerhead in a rubbermaid container, perhaps) they should be OK. You can get a very cheap powerhead for $15 bucks at petsmart.

Thanks all. Yes, the water my wife has in the bin is tank water. I have added a small power head and heater. I am having my wife mix some fresh saltwater for the live rock. I would love to be able to take my fish to the lfs but I don't trust them. One maybe, but I have seen to many sick fish in the local tanks.

Also, I would like to know your thoughts on re-cycling the tank or do you all think I need to start from scratch seeing it will be 3 days until I get back to do anything with it? Ugh...this hurts.

    TIA

And as far as getting the water off the floor, I have two boys that should do the trick. With the help of a shopvac. Fortunately its tile.

Might need to stick some LR in with your fish to keep bacteria stable.

Yeah, throw a couple smaller pieces of LR in with the fish as Otty said to help with filtration. Don't put larger pieces in though to avoid any rock falls or the likes. If you filled up a new tank and put all your stuff in it, you should be ok.
