So this past Tuesday I left Pennsylvania for ocean city Maryland for 4 days for a nice little vacation with the family. I had my older brother keeping an eye on my tank, as he has done so several times before. So this was fairly routine. However as some of you may know Pennsylvania is currently in a hot & humid heat wave, typical for July. For the past two days we had weather over 90 degrees with tons of humidity meanwhile the ac in my 2nd story bedroom somehow shut off. My brother didn't know it had to stay on. So ... I'm guessing my room hit close to 100 degrees for two straight days. Aka my tank hit 90 at least. I returned tonight to find a toasted acro that was growing rather well, a dead frogspawn that also finally started doing good, and a melted linkea starfish. Every coral looks stressed and all fish and shrimp seem normal. Needless to say I just ordered a Neptune controller and will be spending my pay check on a chiller this week. It's not my brothers fault as he did not know to keep on my ac unit. He did everything perfect on the instruction sheet as he usually did. Sadly Mother Nature did not work with me this week.

so sorry to hear this. As others have said, at least it wasn't a crash with more losses.

That sucks.... My wife topped off my tank with more saltwater while I was at work and I came home to a completely bleached 10" blue stag colony. I actually thought I might puke.

Thanks everyone, I'm just glad everything else is alright. I must say after about 2 years with my clownfish I would have definitely been upset. It's really important to be thorough with your fish keeper about even the little things, such as keeping the ac on. On the brighter side I have some cool new equipment coming in.

The controller is what you need to for safety for your tank. If you have AC for your room, it is not certain you need a chiller. There are many other things you can do. Sorry for your set back.

Ahhh that sucks! Horror stories really make me want to buy a controller and chiller but I really have no room for either
