Ok, so i've got my tank setup, i have two clown fish in there and a fox face rabbit fish.
Slowly starting to build up a few coral frags.

Everything is fine at the moment, but obviously things could take a turn for the worst.

So i was wondering, what is the best method/s to prevent any diseases occuring in the first place?

    Hi Lloydy

here are 3 ideas from me on this one
    1) dont stock to much to quickly - excess nutrients, which the bacteria are not capable of handling cause stress to the inhabitants and that can lead to diseases
    2) quarantine new fish, to make sure they are healthy/disease free before putting them in main tank
    3) supplement food stuffs with garlic extract as this can help fishes immune system (some say parasites dont like the taste of garlic and wont attach to fishes that are fed garlic enhanced foods, as the flavour permeates the fishes skin)

also some people have a UV steriliser incorporated into their systems as this can kill some parasites and bacteria species

I believe in and therefore use Marine-Max by Tropical Science. You can do the garlic if you choose although from my extensive research there is no viable scientific data backing up any claims about garlic and fish, people yes. One habit I got into also is to feed a little right after cleaning or doing a water change to ease stress caused by the intrusion.

So basically generally look after the fish well to stop any out breaks? with the possibility of a uv steriliser to kill any free floating bacteria. Also dose the water with anti disease stuff possibly?

On side note, you think if you fed cod garlic extract, it would taste of garlic with no seasoning?

No idea Lloydy - I could not keep cod long enough to feed it garlic - it would be eaten same day I got it home
