    Welcome to 3reef!!

There are lots of methods of killing the aipstasia off. Putting the rock in the sun for a couple of days. Bleaching and then soaking in ro/di water with Ammonia remover for a couple of days. No matter what you do, make sure you cure in a separate container to ensure no Ammonia makes it into your current tank.

That would likely stink up the house. Do you have a garage or another dry room that you could put it in to dry?

I believe that Otty's method calls for bleaching for 3 days then a 3 day soak in "plain" ro water and then another 3 day soak in ro water mixed with baking soda.

be careful drying wet rock in cold. If it's freezing outside, it could crack and break the rock.

You can kill the nuisance directly, but I agree with others, better to just nuke the rock and be safe.

3 day soak in bleach water followed by 3 day soak in RO followed by 3 day soak in RO/DI is how I've been doing it. I let it dry for a couple weeks. In the winter, I used a fan inside. Once it's bleached, there isn't much smell any longer and can be dried in the house (IMO).
