I recommend it to anybody who will listen :D

However, if you're planning on buying live rock and then plan to nuke it before adding it to your tank, it would be much cheaper and make a lot more sense to just buy dry, base rock.

i my self would never kill off live rock if i ordered it live thats what want over all the years i have bought live rock i only had one atapasia come out after 3 months .

but i do clean it off and remove all the dead spounge. then i dip it in high sg salt water with some salifert flat worm exit this chases any bad stuff out and kill it with out killing off the live rock. i can see doing what you guys are doing if i was buying rock from a unknown tank or person . you could also quarantine live rock like you should fish and corals . you will run into way more problems not quarantining fish and especially corals thats where 95% of undesirable pests come from killing live rock should be a sin,

so if you want live rock just buy it dont kill off good live rock its also cheaper to buy dry rock but thats my 2 cents:)

+1.0x10^9 agree with the buying dead rock. I started my 90G that way and I have no pest issues.

Dry rock is cheaper and the best part is you can aquascape your tank before you put the water in, which is much easier. Just draw out an outline of your tank and aquascape away!
