my lighting fixture is about 1/2 an inch too wide for my new tanks canopy, so im looking to dismantle it and mount the MH and T5s in the top of the canopy. has anyone ever attempted something like this? I know ill need new reflectors since the ones in there are molded to the frame, but other than that i think every thing should be reusable.

    the fixture has 2 250W MH and 4 T5s

If you do retro it be sure to get splash guards on everything and make sure the guards for the MH are glass.

Most fixtures have some room in the end after you take the end cap off. Check if yours does in the end that the electrical isn't coming out of and you may be able to cut it down that 1/2".

cant you just make the canopy a little wider? or use a router to gain a 1/4" of clearance on the inside walls of the sides of canopy.. just me thinkin' ::)
