can distilled water be used as top off water? I ask this because i cant get osmosis water near by and a reverse osmosis water machine is not a option (no space). I realized the i have used tap water before I know its bad but i was all that i had. When using the tap water i notice my diatoms seem to bloom more all over when they where dying off. Now i see that they are dying off again i want to know if distilled water will not bloom them again

I've been using distilled. $1/gallon at Walmart. I never have to worry about water quality.

Well, the other alternative would be ro/di either from the LFS or at home. I had concerns about the quality of equipment and testing from the LFS and I didn't want to set up at home. Distilled in theory has nothing in it except water. Ro/di can have nutrients from the tap water though it's usually minor.
