So I am without my RO unit for a couple days while a leak is getting fixed and I need to add water to my sump. Is distilled water the same?

It's not the same, but it's close...
I buy 10gallons every month @ walmart and use it as my topoff.. While it's not exactly the best thing to use, I figure it's better than filling my tank up with tap!

So if I add a couple gallons to my 120 until I get my RO unit back it shouldn't be a big deal.. Thanks!

not really-- Mine is ready I just have to go pick it up but with it being halloween I have to take the kids out.. Maybe I'll just close off my return a little so the sump fills a little more. Then go get my R/O unit back tomorrow.

What is the reason that distilled water wont actually be better than ro/di? I would think distilled water would be more clean.

Distilled should actually be better, as all the bad stuff is left behind and not just relying on it being filtered out. IMO

Boiled "distilled" water still has stuff lingering(boil well water til' the liquid is gone). R/O D/I. Chews it up and spits out the bad. Leaving good clean water. Without getting scientific......;)

    NOPE!

    YES!

RO water is laboratory grade, far "cleaner" than distilled! 8)

Distilled water is the collected condensate of water vapor. It would by production, have all the solid components "filtered" out. I'm not sure if mineral ions in solution would make it through the process.

RO/DI water is pretty much devoid of everything except water.

I believe RO/DI is a higher quality water than distilled. I would guess though that distilled water is safe to use, as long as it's mixed with a high quality salt mix.
