So, in the planning stages of my 20H tank, started thinking about sump design. I know it's been done to death, but i really don't want to screw this up, so here's a link to my current design.

It's gonna be a tight squeeze, but I think it will work. Flow will be going from Right to Left, so it will flow like this: Skimmer> fuge > return. The skimmer is on the far right, fuge in the center, and return area on the left.

    Opinions and comments/advice greatly appreciated!

I like the flow with skimmer first. I noticed that the skimmer compartment is 11" high... I usually see skimmer recommended water depth at 9"... what kind of skimmer do you have?

I was debating between the Reef Octo BH-100 and the Hydor Slim Skim Nano, but in another thread I've basically decided to go with the Hydor, hence the really high skimmer area. As far as I know, it needs an 11" water height.

I've yet to figure out exactly what style of overflow I'm going to go with yet. Most likely it will be a DIY version of the glass-holes.com nano con-dientes. I really can't see spending the money on one when its a simple acrylic box with baffles, and I already have plenty of acrylic to make it. hopefully, the fuge and return area will provide enough volume to keep it from overflowing if the power fails. Won't find that out till i setup the tnak and test it with freshwater.

edit: already love this forum better than any of the others@! much faster responses and knowledegable people!
